Remember the Titans
This is an American sports drama film which is based on a true story. Initially, the film was released in the United States on 29th September 2000. The movie clearly represents the situation of the early 1970s, when the two schools of the state Virginia, are integrated to form a new T.C. Williams High School. The movie revolves around the efforts made by the African-American Herman Boone, who was hired by the school as a coach to lead the school’s football team. There were tensions already when the players of different races are forced to play together as a team.
Boaz Yakin directed the movie Remember the Titans, while Jerry Bruckheimer is the producer. Gregory Allen Howard wrote the screenplay of the film. Denzel Washington played the leading role of Coach Herman Boone, while Will Patton played as Bill Yoast, the assistant coach. These were the main faces, along with them, Ryan Hurst, Wood Harris, Ethan Suplee, Donald Faison, and many others also did a great job to make it a successful movie.
This is an awesome movie which everyone should watch. Everyone is against racism, and that’s why it’s a must watch film. The acting was superb, and in the end, you’ll amaze how a black coach makes a football team and unite them having players of different races. We all think that this can only happen in a movie, but it’s based on a true story which makes it, even more, special and eye-opening. This film is full of drama, and funny scenes, many times it becomes hard to control laughing. Actually, this is not just a drama, Denzel Washington worked hard to present the real life situations of that time. You can say that it’s a flashback of the 1970s. In the whole, I can only say that it’s an awesome movie.
The whole film shows the life incidents of Rubin Carter, a middleweight boxer, and people call him as the Hurricane. But, at the peak of his career, he was accused of a murder in one of the New Jersey’s bars. He was sentenced to serve in prison for 3 natural life terms. After spending 19 years of his life as a prisoner, he proved himself as innocent. The movie shows his struggle, the fight for justice, and how he survived in the prison.
The movie was produced and directed by one of the famous directors, Norman Jewison. Denzel Washington played as a boxer, Rubin Carter. Along with him, Kara Unger, Liev Schreiber, and Vicellous Shannon also contributed a lot.
As I love sports related movies, therefore it’s always on my top favorite list. It’s a little bit longer than the other movies, its total length is nearly 145 minutes. This film will turn your emotions on. It points out the racism which was a very common problem in the 1960s. This film makes you motivate towards the sports, fitness and inspires you to never give up. The acting of Denzel Washington is just great, and you’ll feel the every emotion on his face like fear, sadness, and anger. This is definitely one of the best movies of Denzel Washington. But, unfortunately, it was not that massive hit at the box office as expected. But, I believe it’s much better than the response it got from the people, and a lot better than the other sports drama films.
