Semi-Pro is a movie about Jackie Moon, the player, coach, and owner of the Flint Michigan Tropics. When the team starts to suffer, Jackie brings in Monix, an aging point guard, in hopes of reinvigorating the franchise.
Semi-Pro is directed by Kent Alterman. It stars Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, Maura Tierney, Andre Benjamin, and Rob Corddry.
Semi-Pro may focus on athletics, but it’s a comedy at its heart. The movie is funny from start to finish and employs an all-star cast that makes up a not so all-star team and its supporters. Will Ferrell is hilarious as Jackie Moon, who both owns, coaches, and plays in the Tropics, set of all places in Flint, Michigan. Jackie dreams of his team moving up from the A.B.A. into a merger with the N.B.A., but he doesn’t have the time to wait for that to happen. The Tropics have less spectators(and less interest) than ever.
However, The Tropics may just have an answer in former Celtics player Monix. Monix(played by Woody Harrelson) is a fading point guard who was at one time one of the greats. He takes the deal to play for the Tropics… if only to get closer to the love of his life and steal her away from her husband. As The Tropics start to gain momentum, will they be able to save their team and pull in a big win? Or are the Flint Michigan Tropics doomed? Not if Jackie’s Flint Michigan Mega Bowl has anything to do with it.
Step Brothers is about two grown men who are still somehow trapped in arrested development. When their respective parents fall in love and blend their families, the two step brothers are forced to live together and find a way to make it work.
Step Brothers was directed by co-writer of the movie Adam McKay. It stars John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell, Mary Steenburgen, Richard Jenkins, Adam Scott, and Kathryn Hahn.
Step Brothers brings funny to a new level! The cast in this movie is dynamic and hilarious, each in their own ways. Richard Jenkins is perfect as the fed up father who wants the boys to grow up and get real jobs, and Mary Steenburgen is flawless as the sometimes indulgent, nurturing mother.
When Brennan Huff(39 years old, played by Ferrell) meets Dale Doback(40 years old, played by Reilly) meet, it’s hate at first sight. Their status as enemies is immediately cemented. But as they start to spend more time together, Brennan and Dale find out they have a lot in common(besides being just man children).
As Brennan and Dale unite to become an unstoppable force, they start doing everything together. But the real world and their dad intervene, and the step brothers must not only conquer activities and Dale’s antagonistic brother(Adam Scott), but the real world and their inevitable roles as adults. This film is full of unforgettable scenes, comedy moments, and heart felt scenes about growing up… and why sometimes it’s better to stay a kid.
