The movie Pain & Gain’ starring the famed WWE star The Rock or Dwayne Johnson was released in the year 2013. It is primarily an American crime black comedy film based on true events, directed by Michael Bay. The inspiration of the film is based on a story published in the years 1999 series of Miami New Times articles by Pete Collins. His book in the year 2013 was a compilation of the real-life events of kidnapping, torture, extortion, and murders. These were somehow related to the The Sun Gym’, and thus the name of the movie seems to be derived from the popular exercising adage of “No pain, no gain”.
Movie plot revolved around the Sun Gym and kidnapping of one of the members to extort money. Lugo is one of the prime plotters of the kidnapping recruits two accomplices for the criminal acts, and one them is The Rock’. In the backdrop, different incidents happen that add to the mood of the film. It is believed the film managed to gross over $96 million worldwide recovering its budget of $26 million. It was critically acclaimed and was amongst box office hits of the year 2013. Nevertheless, it did get some brick-bags for historic inaccuracies too.

Thrilling events with bout of laugh keeps the movie entertaining, and is recommended at least once-time watch especially if you are a die-hard fan of The Rock’. One would love the character of Dwayne Johnson or The Rock’.


The other blockbuster movies in the year 2013 starring The Rock’ was Snitch. It is an American crime drama film with Dwayne Johnson or the Rock’ in the lead. The movie is directed by Ric Roman Waugh and was released in the year, 2013. The movie stars Barry Pepper, Jon Bernthal, Susan Sarandon, Benjamin Bratt and Michael Kenneth Williams.

Snitch movie plots around the family of John Mathew played by Dwayne Johnson. One day his ex-wife calls him informing about his son Jason who is caught up for distribution of narcotics. John feels guilty about his negligence towards his son, and tries hard to stand by his son. The events unfold and it is discovered one of Jason’s friend frames him in the whole incident to bail himself out. In the course of the plan to rescue Jason, John along with an accomplice gets trapped in a surveillance making chances of freedom bleak.

The events and the storyline seems to be inspired by a Frontline documentary relating to the changes of the federal drug policy of the United States encouraged the imprisoned to snitch on their accomplices. The initial screenplay was written Justin Haythe that was later rewritten by Waugh. The movie is all-in-all power packed with action and thrill that action-movie fans would definitely enjoy.

Although the movie Snitch has received mixed reviews from critics, it was rated quite low of the review chart coring 5.6 out of 10. However, it was definitely The Rock’ thoughtful performances, and one who love to see him in more roles like this
